New, local guest visiting the Reserva Natural Palmari

A young, male, sick, underfed and sad tapir (Tapirus terrestris) was reported to the Reserva Natural Palmari having been seen captive in a far-away riverine community; after tough lobbying and convincing work by the staff of the Reserva Natural Palmari the tapir finally has arrived at our visitor´s centre; after a thorough veterinary revisal, intensive care towards his full recovery and teaching him his natural food and diet, he will be free to decide whether he stays with us as photo-modell and pet to our guests or if he prefers to venture out into our terra firme forests to live his tapir life in plain liberty and protected by the hunting prohibition ruling the Reserva Natural Palmari

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION & ecology

ecological solutions against Traditional invasive modus vivendi

Taking into account that the neo-tropical palm (Lepidocarium tenue) that provides the “caraná” leaves - from which the long “palia” panels are woven, which, placed one on-top of the next, conform all traditional ceilings (with an average durability between 2 to 4 years) in the amazonian and orinoquian region – is dissapearing and the people who weave them have to gather them further and further away from their villages, the Reserva Natural Palmari is again the pioneer in search of finding ecological solutions with cero environmental impact for the region, experimenting and as a “pilot test” in our visitor´s centre, installing as ceiling for our sanitary infrastructure serving the communal enramada a new panel, imported from Europe, manufactured ecologically, based on mineral and vegetal saturated fibres that create a sturdy but flexible, high quality and resistant panel, even to the most severe climatic conditions with a durability guarantee between 15 to 20 years; being monitored for a year and if the expected results are confirmed, the Reserva Natural Palmari will prioritarily use this new none-invasive product and, further, lobby and produce proyects that will implement it throughout the entire region

The Reserva Natural Palmari again acts on the front row regarding environmental protection and carries the flag of the causes on behalf of a better quality of live for the local communities in the region!

La Reserva Natural Palmari nuevamente a la vanguardia de la protección ambiental y como abanderada de las causas para una mejor calidad de vida para las comunidades locales de la región!
